iSTIK WINS ‘2008 INVENTION OF THE YEAR’ FROM SAN DIEGO INVENTORS FORUM

Innovative, magnetic iPod accessory places first among San Diego’s inventions

(San Diego, CA – September 17, 2008) – iStik, Inc., creator of the ultimate iPod accessory – iStik (www.goistik.com), has been awarded first place from San Diego Inventors Forum (SDIF), winning the title of “2008 Invention of the Year.” SDIF President Adrian Pelkus presented Alissa Huber, Owner and CEO of iStik, Inc., with a check for $1,000 following individual presentations by the competitors, and a vote by the SDIF group, which was held last Thursday at Sheppard Mullin’s office in Del Mar.

"It is such an honor to have iStik awarded as the best invention of the year. As any entrepreneur does, we’ve put countless hours and funds into developing this product. It is very rewarding and reinforcing to see others so excited about our idea,” said Alissa Huber, Owner and CEO of iStik, Inc. “The competition was tough; we feel privileged to take home the win."

Other inventions considered, included: Gary Abramov, Non Contact Tonometer/Intra-ocular pressure measuring device for glaucoma; Greg Lauren, Invention AcceleratorTM Guide & Organizer; Sharon Hamolsky, Boomerang System for Cell Phones (remote finder); Peter Kreklow, LED motion picture light; Nancy Mirr, Ear protection device; Fredrick Prior, Artist tools; and Dan Wolfson, Brew Buggy.

iStik recently expanded its product offerings to include the 3rd generation iPod Nano. The iStik magnetic fastening case is the ideal way of allowing its wearer to listen to music easily and accessibly wherever they want. Simply insert the iPod Nano (2nd or 3rd generation) in the iStik plastic holder and attach it to virtually any part of an outfit. A 3-piece case made of Lexan “bullet proof” plastic, the iStik protects the entire Nano, even the screen while “keeping up” with any activity using eight high-tech Neodymium magnets. Best used when placed on one layer of clothing, the magnets will not erase music, movies or more from the users iPod.

iStik cases currently retail for $24.95 for the 2nd generation iPod Nano and $26.95 for the 3rd generation iPod Nano, and will soon be transforming the way the iPhone and Touch are worn. All iStik products can be purchased online at www.goistik.com and will be available in retail stores nationwide toward the end of this year.

nano-rrrrrrrrific!

Apple today introduced the fourth-generation iPod nano. Touted by Apple as the thinnest iPod ever made, the new nano sports a curved aluminum design with curved glass, and looks very similar to previous reports. In addition to the new form factor, the new iPod nano features an accelerometer that allows the user to shake the device to enter shuffle mode. A new user interface also appears on the device, offering Genius playlist creation right from the nano, a Cover Flow mode that appears when the device is in landscape orientation, a built-in voice recording app, album art that appears at the bottom as the user scrolls through the traditional interface, and battery life of 24 hours for music and 4 hours for video. The new iPod nano will be available in nine colors — silver, purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, red, black and pink, and will be priced at $149 for the 8GB model and $199 for the new 16GB model.

iStik is designing a magnetically fastening case for the new nano and expects it to be on shelves by the first week in November. Please contact us at stikit@goitstik.com to place pre-orders. Quantities may be limited...

Kendall Survives Her 1st 1/2 Marathon!

Way to go Kendall! She survived her first 1/2 marathon and rocked her iStik the whole time. This is a great example to show how the 1st generation nano works great with the iStik too, you just can't put the faceplate on it. She felt like a Mack Truck had run over her by the next day but is already training for the Silver Strand race. You are truly an inspiration!

iSTiK ROCKSTAR OF THE SUMMER

It's so great to see young people getting involved with fitness at such an early age. Kiana is 15 and the fastest girl at her school. She says the iStik is awesome because the armbands never fit her arms and she hated holding her iPod while she ran. Now she can listen to her iPod and keep herself distracted during those long runs. Thanks Kiana!

First iStik "Knock-off" for the Shuffle

Looks like there is a simple iStik solution for the Shuffle after all. The Shuffle's built-in clip gives plenty of versatility in where you are able to wear it, so we didn't see a need to make a case with a magnetic fastening system. Apparently though, that is not stopping some from making their own. This is an iStik fastener chopped down to the size of the Shuffle with one side directly glued to the Shuffle and the other piece free to go under your clothing. Not recommended, but quite ingenious! Thanks for sharing Chris.

Fun Filled Days at the Outdoor Retailer

Wow, what a weekend. The show was a blast! Much like Disneyland for the Outdoor enthusiast. We met some great people, sold a ton of iStiks, and had a really great time. Now it's time to catch up on some zzzz's and start getting ready for the ASR, which is now just weeks away...
